I’m celebrating!!

I googled ME & HER: a Memoir Of Madness, a teacher’s gutsy story of parent harassment, mental breakdown, mental illness and recovery …

To see what Reviews would surface on my personal memoir.

MC Reviews,  a prestigious Review Magazine reviews ME & HER

Karen Tyrrell defines Me and Her: a Memoir of Madness as ‘a memoir of recovery and hope. She holds nothing back in this intense, honest confronting narrative.

There is such raw honesty about this book. Its fast-paced opening and punchy prose immediately drags the reader into Tyrrell’s nightmare and she uses some lovely imagery to convey her fear and anxiety as her world disintegrates and plunges out of control.

“It is to the author’s credit that she manages to make her readers experience the horror of her situation.

This is an important book. Engaging and articulate it gives us a view of mental illness from the inside that, while cathartic for the writer, also has great potential to help others understand and cope with an illness that has been, up until recent times, hidden from view.  Read M/C’s Full Review

NSW Writers Centre reviews ME & HER …

Me and Her: A Memoir of Madness follows the struggle one woman has had in, firstly, identifying and secondly treating her mental illness.

The duality of personalities within the one individual; a healthy Karen and the contrasting ‘HER’, who embodies all the negative aspects of the author’s illness, recount the struggles and triumphs of the author.

“Incidents taking place at the school where Tyrrell teaches are catalyst for an emotional breakdown that affects her more deeply than she initially leads her family and peers to believe. The progression into illness is conveyed through both fact and a dreamlike fiction, combining into a single expression of ‘MADNESS’.
