BIO Karen Tyrrell

BIO: Karen Tyrrell began her publishing career in 2012 after writing Me and Her: A Memoir of Madness for which she won multiple awards. She wrote the sequel Me And Him: A Guide to Recovery in 2013.

Karen now writes empowering books to help kids live STRONG through humor and self-belief. She’s an experienced educator,  gifted & talented teacher and key note speaker. Karen is a passionate writing workshop presenter and interactive story teller utilising props and fun costumes. She presented Superhero Writing Workshops for ALEA Meanjin Writing Camps at USQ and Brisbane City Libraries.

Karen won an Arts Queensland grant for children’s book Ready Set Discover Logan published in 2018.

Karen’s acclaimed books include Song Bird Superhero (Song Bird 1), The Battle of Bug World (Song Bird 2), STOP the Bully, Bailey Beats the Blah, Harry Helps Grandpa Remember, and two books in the Super Space Kids series. Her books ignite childhood imagination and positive self-esteem.

Karen is the recipient of 3 awards, 4 literary grants, 2 sponsorships and a mentorship through the Society of Editors (QLD).
