Welcome to karentyrrell.com

This is my first BLOG to launch my official website, coinciding with the completion of my first book and search for an Agent.

I’m an Australian writer in the genres of Memoir, Crime and Sci-Fi/Fantasy.

Future blogs will centre on facets of Writing and Publishing tips.

And I’ll be revealing my writing secrets and describing my journey unearthing an Agent, a Publisher and signing a book contract.

I’ll be adding to this site over coming months with writing links and regular posts.

I would love your feedback. Please leave a comment.

You can subscribe by joining Karen’s Blog via Facebook. Then you’ll receive updates so we can keep in touch.

You’ve done a great job so far, can’t wait to keep up to date with your journey.

  • Deb

Hey Karen , Looks great , where do you go to read the story?

  • Hi Deb,
I want to publish it in a book format. So its not available online at the moment.

  • Hi, Karen
Thanks for inviting me to join your blog and congratulations on finishing your book! Fantastic stuff.
Twenty questions now from an aspiring author.
Does your book m/s fit within a genre? Did you use a good editor and manuscript appraisal service? All the best and let me know if you find an agent in Brisbane (or are you trying to find one from Sydney or Melbourne?).
I love the look of your website. Beautiful banner. It looks classy.
    Joanna :))

  • Hi Joanna, this ms is memoir/narrative non-fiction. 12 months ago I used Selena HH for an Appraisal. Did a complete rewrite then sent it out to Readers (who are also writers +/or editors) for feedback… And I’ll take an Agent from anywhere!

  • Well done Karen.
It’s a tough business, full of frustration, but it sounds like you’ve had success already.
I’m sure you will get there. I guess persistence is the key.
I just remind myself that publishing is just one aspect of writing and not the goal.

Congrats again and keep smiling… anthony

  • Well done, Karen. Good luck with your memoir.

  • Congrats on the new site Karen, very neat. I am watching your fishing-for-agents expedition very closely!

  • Andrew, I’m casting my fishing nets and lines as far and wide as possible.

  • Murknird

Great web site and an inspiration for all those out there who might be nervous in respect to opening up their own memoirs to the world. PS That Stevey sounds interesting!

  • I only just came across your name in a local newspaper and decided to check out your website. I am currently writing a book/memoir and will eventually need to find a publisher/agent or someone willing to help me to turn my manuscript into a book.

  • Hi Heather, Nice to meet you. My advice to you is learn from as many Writers Courses as you can. And join many writers groups and associations. Would you like to become a member of Logan City Writers collective … via email or on Facebook? … Happy Writing, Karen :))

  • Thanks for your reply Karen. I realised after I sent that post that you had an more updated post site under the heading of Logan Writers. I do intend to email you further with more detail about myself, rather than sending it in as public post. I also prefer email rather than Facebook, as email is more private. I will contact you shortly.
    Cheers, Heather

  • Hi Heather,
I’m forwarding the first newsletter to you via email today. Happy writing, Karen :))

  • Fred Peterie

In answer to your e-mail on the 27th December 2010 I would be keen to join the Logan city writer’s club and receive your next newsletter, and hopefully meet you in the near future.

  • Hi Fred, Just added you to the Logan city writers newsletter contact list. Sending out next one with all the meetings very soon.
