I, Karen Tyrrell signed my FIRST contract on behalf of Digital Future Press. Digital Future Press, my indie publishing imprint now has a book distributer.
I’m so excited I can barely breathe. Hubby Steve and I had discussions with a distributer for over 3 months!
Yes, it took that long for me to be 100% sure.
Fingers crossed: this contract will be the right one.
For me, this contract was BETTER than one with a mainstream book publisher or an agent.
WHY? I have total control over my books, my writing and my publishing business.
What Books will be distributed for Digital Future Press?

Bailey Beats the Blah

Why does Digital Future Press want a Distributer?
In 2015, my husband Steve Tyrrell joined Digital Future Press as a director and my business adviser. My books are currently stocked in most stores in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Dymocks Penrith. Steve as my roadie, actively participates in my pantomime, storytelling and signing events.
Steve couldn’t keep up with the demand of physically distributing books to stores. Plus keeping track of all the consignment orders and invoices. A distributer will streamline our outreach.
Where will my Books be distributed?
My children’s books will go into book shops, libraries, schools and festivals throughout Australia and New Zealand.
What will the Contract do?
My distributer will actively promote and supply my books at these outlets.
Today, I shipped books to my distributer to start the process rolling.
Contract Tips for Writers
Remember there’s more than one pathway to publishing other than the traditional publishing model. Consider becoming an indie publisher.
- Research the company who’s serving the contract. Thoroughly.
- Talk to authors who signed with the company and request information on their experiences.
- Make sure you understand what every clause in the contract means and how it will impact on you.
- Ask a lot of questions until you are 100% sure this contract will help you and your business.
- Seek legal advice if unsure of the contract agreement. I recommend Alex Adsett.
- Signing a contract with a book publisher or an agent can be wonderful too. Its all about the contract. But remember there’s more than one pathway to publishing! Good luck 🙂
Way to go Karen, it will be neat to see your books show up in more places.
Hi Fred,
Thanks for your kind support. I’m not sure exactly where my books will pop up yet. Please keep a look out for me …
Cheers,
Karen 🙂
Congratulations, Karen. That’s such great news. The fact that you need a distributor because you can’t keep up with demand. How wonderful.
Thanks Megan,
Thrilled you’re excited for me. Its relatively easy delivering books to local shops. But this distributer will get our books to interstate and New Zealand book shops. That will make a HUGE difference…. Cheers, Karen 🙂
Congratulations, Karen!! I hope it works out well for you. 🙂
Thanks Jacqui,
I hope it works out well too. Fingers crossed … Karen 🙂
Congratulations Karen on your achievements and success. Well deserved xx
