Celebrating Mental Health Week 7-13 Oct

WOOHOO! I’m celebrating mental health week! I’ve TRIUMPHED over bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

I created ME & HER: a Memoir of Madness, a teacher’s honest story of being terrorized by parents, my escape and incarceration by police into a psyche ward.

I share my positive guide to Recovery and my tools for wellness with readers, audiences and the online community.

To celebrate: I’m announcing a week of mental health tips for adults and children’s wellness. I’ll update this page and my website as breaking news is announced.

  • I had read the book and want to read it again! Karen’s candid openness of her journey is one that can give hope to many of our community with a mental illness, and their families. The book takes away the mystery and the misunderstandings, it brings balance. It’s also just a really good read with a captivating storyline. Karen is a role model of how one can take their destiny into their own hands, look at their reality and do something about it. I’ve given my copy away. I’m sure to one day give the next copy away. It’s too valuable not to share.

I would love to win a copy of your amazing book Karen, personally it has been a challenging life for me with ups and downs, at the moment there are downs with lack of finances, Chris looking for work and family issues with my twin brother having heart problems once again, not good. Reading your blogs and having your E-book has been really helpful to make a happier me. Reading your book I know will be inspirational and I have wanted to do this for a very long time.
Following your journey since I met you has been incredible with so many amazing write-ups about your book, and invitations to speak with people about the life you have lived, and more arriving each day, together with all your amazing radio shows – you have given so much of yourself to all of us with your journey and I cannot wait for your second book to come out.
Much love from my heart to yours and angel wing hugs always and forever ♥♥♥

I have only read a few pages of this book and LOVE what I have read. I am so proud of your crusade to make people aware of this condition of mental illness and to not be ashamed of it. In addition, my funds are very limited due to the fact I am on Disability from the illness. thank you for your consideration.

    “Sometimes I feel
    Like I don’t have a partner
    Sometimes I feel
    Like my only friend
Is the city I live in
    The city of Angels
    Lonely as I am
    Together we cry

    I drive on her streets
    ‘Cause she’s my companion
    I walk through her hills
‘Cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds and
    She kisses me windy and
    I never worry
    Now that is a lie

    I don’t ever wanna feel
    Like I did that day”

  • Hi Theresa, Sounds like we’ve both ridden that roller coaster. Reading ME & HER will help increase your wellness & resilience skills. Karen 🙂
PS Thanks for the poem/ song 🙂

  • I would love to win your book. I am so grateful we share a passion for mental health awareness. It is vital to over all health. I believe the unaware of the challenges of what they deem mentally ill forget they themselves struggle too. That’s not an illness.. that is just plain living. I believe is the what we must show.. We are all human. We all have a brain which sorts through everyday life INDEED

  • Thanks Lisa, I’m Thrilled you support ME & HER: a Memoir Of Madness and left a comment here. Good luck in the Book Giveaway! 🙂

I would like to win a copy of your book as I have had anxiety and severe depression since i was a teen. This has been aggravated by PTSD and PND at times. There have been many occassions where I thought the madness would win. I’m still here but I often wonder will there ever be an end to the Madness. It is reassurring to know that others have survived and have gone on to do so very well…. there is hope for all of us. I’d also love to review this book too 😀

  • hi Bron, Thanks so much for supporting ME & HER. My recovery memoir will give you coping tools and show you how to develop your own wellness plan … Karen 🙂
