ABC Radio interview Karen Tyrrell Author

ABC RadioABC Radio will interview me on my children’s eco fantasy , The Battle of Bug World (Song Bird 2). I’m thrilled ABC Radio will interview me … but I’m nervous at the same time.

The Battle of Bug World (Song Bird 2) is a page-turning superhero adventure with a bullied female protagonist and a science wiz sidekick zooming around in a modified wheelchair. Two friends unite discovering their superpowers through singing, science and believing in themselves. Can Song Bird STOP the bully, save her sister, the bees and the environment? … Whilst crushing stereotypes and kicking ass.

 Why ABC Radio?

ABC Radio announcer Spencer Howson interviewed me for my very first book, Me and Her: A Memoir of Madness back in 2012. He was keen to find out how a bullied teacher became mentally ill and how she recovered. (That’s me author Karen Tyrrell, winner of three awards.)

Now eight books on, The Battle of Bug World addresses bullying too. But this time, it’s my alter ego Rosella Ava Bird AKA Song Bird Superhero who battles bullies to save the environment and the bees. Above all, Rosie must save her sister Raven and her family from an evil genius and a world ravaged by climate change.

 What’s my message?

My message is all about self-empowerment and connecting with your inner superhero.

Can a bullied girl and her disabled sidekick make a difference in this world?

I can’t wait to share all with journalist and announcer Emma Griffith.
