Launched a 3-Pronged Attack

2011 promises to be an unprecedented year for me galloping towards my goals.
I’ve launched a 3-pronged pro-active attack to achieve my New Year resolutions.

Personal Fitness
On Monday, I commenced a 12 week Body Blitz to improve my fitness and energize me. I’ll need my optimum health to achieve all those goals I’ve set myself…

Community Projects

  • Today I’ve relaunched Logan City Writers collective with over 90 members. I’ve sent an eNewsletter welcoming new members and listing our face-to-face and online writing groups for members to join.
  • In a few weeks time, Logan Writers Week committee will meet to launch Logan Writers Week 2011 in October. A special thanks to committee membersPeter Garbett (Exodus Editing), Jodi Cleghorn (eMergent Publishing), Cate Black (Logan Writers Guild) and Stephanie Azri (author of “High Risk Pregnancy and fetal Diagnosis, your Journey.”)
  • In 2011, I’ll be working at a community facility a few hours per week to deliver a ground breaking Mental Health writing project. Full details coming soon.

Writing Projects
The vast majority of my time I’ll spend on daily writing to hone my craft.

  • New Writing Projects for 2011 … I’m researching new writing themes and projects and polishing off old ones. Watch this space.
  • Space Kids Series … An International publisher requested and is considering Josh and The It for publication. I’m nearing completion of Book 2 of this Sci-Fi series.
  • ME AND HER: a Memoir of Madness … I’ve submitted this manuscript to a writing competition and to a  a media personality. I should hear the outcomes soon.

On Monday I listed my goals for January, February and March.
The long list curled around my feet.
I started to panic … Oh my god … How can I achieve all this?
This leathery elephant of New Year resolutions towered and swayed before me.
So what did I do?
I sliced my goals into manageable pieces that I could attack, chew and digest
… One bite-size chunk at a time.

*** NEWSFLASH ***
Today I received two requests from the Publishing World … one, a query about my books … the other … someone wants to meet with me.

Can my  Dreams finally be turning into Reality?

Love your 3 pronged attack … fitness, community and creativity.
I’m intrigued by your future meeting with someone in the publishing world. What does that mean? Susan.

  • Hi Susan, Glad you like my pro-active “attack”. About the meeting … sorry, I don’t want to give too much away yet. Its all about possibilities, isn’t it? … Karen :))

  • Tri Dent

Prong refers to the points (dents) of a fork. Figuratively it means an approach to a given problem. You often hear it in a phrase such as “a three-pronged attack”. In other words an attack with three objectives or three methods. Honestly, the usages that you found for it covers a full dinner set. However I do get the meaning in this sense is “method” or “approach” to reach a common goal, so good luck trying to juggle all of this. Remember that 2011 has just started and so far it looks like being a long year.

  • Hi Tri- Dent ( very clever)…Thanks for your concern …
It might sound a “lot” but really January is the month you initiate New Projects and for the rest of the year the next steps fall into place.
Then you reap the benefits of forward planning. Well thats the plan … Karen :))

  • Find a happy medium and do what works for you, Karen. Remember, it’s okay to take a break. Good luck! You’re one hell of an achiever and I’m so proud of you! 🙂

  • Thanks so much Carol,
I’m streamlining much that I do. With the community projects … I’m always looking for the most efficient ways to get things done with minimum time spent. With the writing projects … they can’t be rushed and take their own time. My family are on holidays now so I’m spending quality time with them … Karen :))

  • Thanks Joanna for all your support,
I’m working smarter this year, optimizing my writing day. I have my goals and my diary in front of me …Karen :))

  • You’re off to a great start, Karen. Good balance, great attitude and it’s terrific that you’re including personal fitness in your goals and program. (Makes me write a quick “note to self”.) All the best for 2011. Chris

  • Hi Chris,
Thanks for dropping by. Fitness and good health will help maintain my stamina for all the book signings ahead. LOL. Thinking extra positive now. Karen:))

  • A great post and attitude Karen! I haven’t even bought a diary for 2011 yet so I better pull my finger out. I’m still in shock it’s a new year and I only just took down the Xmas tree. 2011 is going to be a fabulous year for you! I believe what you think, is what you create.
So, imagine your dreams coming true, and they will. Good on you!

  • Hi Renee,
What a coincidence! I’ve just been over to your website leaving a comment. Didn’t know you were here. LOL.
We both share a common philosophy about thinking up and creating our future. Hope we both realize our writing dreams in 2011 …Karen :))

This is wonderful, Karen. Everything is happening for you, mainly because you are making it happen. You are such an inspiration. I’m sorry I haven’t been writing to you. I’m searching out the date.Hope you had a great Christmas.
