WHAT IF: your dream Publisher OR Agent advertised for Manuscripts?
What would you send them?
First of all, you create a KICK-ASS query letter, one that spurs the agent or publisher to read on. It must be professional, intelligent, concise, and intriguing. It accompanies your submission.
Your cover letter must capture their attention, begging for more.
A KICK-ASS query letter must have a hook, a mini-synopsis, your writer’s biography and a conclusion.
Follow my #10 STEPS
STEP 1 >>Research the publisher/ agents name and address, and their preferences.
STEP 2 >> Show the ultimate in courtesy and make sure the letter is less than one page.
STEP 3 >> Start with … “Dear Ms Smith”, and introduce yourself and a hook. You could include a powerful sentence, directly quoted from your book OR an elevator pitch of your book.
STEP 4 >> In the same paragraph, deliver a statement of genre, word count and your target audience.
STEP 5 >> Follow with a paragraph with the most enticing mini-synopsis or back-cover blurbs about your book.
STEP 6 >> Explain your writing credits and why you wrote the book in the most positive light possible in one or two sentences.
STEP 7 >> Include a sentence with specific details about their preferences listing similar books/ authors published/ represented by them.
STEP 8 >> Conclude with …”Thank you for taking the time to consider my cover letter, synopsis and the first three chapters of SAYONARA. I look forward to hearing from you soon.”
STEP 9 >> Sign at the bottom of your letter. Add your contact details including address, phone, email and website.
STEP 10 >> Double-check you’ve followed the manuscript submission guides exactly, offering every piece of information they requested.
Two weeks ago, I sent a KICK-ASS Query Letter to a Publisher with a synopsis and first three chapters of SAYONARA … Here’s hoping they’ll request the entire manuscript soon.

TODAY I sent a KICK-ASS query letter, synopsis and three chapters to my dream literary AGENT, requesting them to consider SAYONARA for representation … I hope they’ll represent ME AND HER and my Super Space Kids series too.
Meanwhile, I’m adorning myself with my luckiest charms … and rubbing a little jade Buddha’s belly too.
Please wish me a whole-lotta-luck :))
Well done Karen once again. Here’s hoping they bite this time. Keep those Query’s going!

Chris
Thanks Chris for the luck wishes. That’s what we have to do, isn’t it? Just keep powering on … writing and submitting :))
