Aim Sky High for 2011

For 2011, I’m making my own luck and capitalizing on every opportunity presented to me.
With only two days of 2010 to go, I’m visualizing what I really want to achieve in 2011.
I’m resetting my writing and personal goals.

I’m planning ahead, every step of the way, setting realistic objectives and grabbing every chance that comes my way.

No pie in the sky dreams for me.

I’m focusing on what I can accomplish and the practical steps on reaching there … Its time to reset my targets, as the New Year comes hurtling towards me.
My wish … to make 2011 a memorable year, one to be proud of.

How do YOU work out YOUR goals?
Squeeze your eyes shut and visualize your Big Picture for 2011.
To feel positive and motivated, set practical goals you can complete in three months or less.

Your brain will react to genuine personal goals that are S.M.A.R.T.
Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-bound.

3 MONTH GOALS

  • Write every day with passion and conviction and everything else will follow
  • Rewrite / Redraft every writing project you’ve created to the next level
  • Send away completed projects to a competition or publisher
  • Follow up on VIP emails … every opportunity presented to you
  • Extend your writers platform, reaching out to the community
  • RESEARCH … RESEARCH … RESEARCH … every writing project, every publisher and agent
  • Join a writing group or start a writing course that will help you reach your goals
  • Network and Critique with writers who have a similar passion to you
  • Be creative … envisage a brand new project
  • Ask yourself … Did you do justice to the ideas you started out with?
  • Tick off every success along the way.

DAILY GOALS

  • Write every day, 365 days a year.
  • Every day list attainable goals that you can achieve for that day
  • Tick boxes on the page, a visual reminder of each success

What are YOUR Writing Goals for 2011?

~~  For me … UNBELIEVABLE … but True ~~

A few days before Christmas, the Universe delivered two cosmic opportunities to me, ones that could launch my writing career.

  • Book Reviewer, Kelly McLean of Australian Writers Rock has supported me and delivered a fabulous preview on ME AND HER.

I really like that Karen is working to perfect her craft instead of rushing into self-publishing. Her work shows her talent.”

  • A media personality requested my very latest manuscripts to “read over the holidays” to consider for an upcoming interview.

Meanwhile, I’m setting all those positive Goals in Motion, aiming Sky High, ready for whatever the cosmic forces decide.

… Please Universe,  be kind!

Wishing you all a happy, healthy and successful 2011.

Thanks so much for your AMAZING support and encouragement in 2010.

Thanks Karen for this post. I like sectioning your goals into three months time-slots AND the S.M.A.R.T. tips for realistic goals.

  • Thanks Michelle, I’ve done research on goal setting that works and the 3 month/ realistic goals are the ones that are achievable :))

Karen , Its also important to reflect yourself: take time out of your busy day to reflect on yourself and where you are headed. Reflection is a conversation between yourself as the actor and as an observer of the actions you take. By considering your actions, you get an outsider’s view of yourself. So a person who is reflecting is both the subject and the object of reflection, and both the giver and the receiver of attention. Personal reflection also recharges the batteries. This is an easy exercise. Sit quietly for three minutes and ponder the events of the past couple of hours. If you’ve done that, we bet that these few moments have made you feel calmer, more focused and energized. That is the power of personal reflection.

  • Thanks Mirror Man,
Yes I agree Reflection is a necessary part on goal making and forging forward. Reflecting on past decisions and actions to improve future ones, is a VIP part of that process. “Next time I’ll do it better” :))

  • I love reading your blog, Karen 🙂 Wishing you a happy, healthy and successful 2011 ~ And, thanks Mirror Man for your comment on personal reflection. I found this very interesting and important.
